A new album I recommend a listen to, for all ages!
Hi there,
The topic of transition is certainly a theme in my working life. I’ve written about them in this post (one of the very first) and this one two weeks ago.
I enjoy listening and half watching an NPR Tiny Desk Concert as I clean the kitchen after dinner. For the past year+ now they’ve all been “at home” though each artist experiments with their homebase in a unique way.
I listened to Sara Watkins and two bandmates share songs from her new album of children’s songs. I knew it needed to be shared with you today.
Right around 8 minutes into her concert she shares about the realization of music supporting life’s transitions. She shares some gems.
It’s no wonder that singing “clean-up” tunes supports children. It’s no wonder that singing lullabies supports them in falling to sleep. It’s no wonder that there’s specific music for graduations, weddings, and more.
So, if you’d like, take this as an opportunity to weave a song into your day, to support a transition you’re moving through right now. Maybe it’s one of Sara Watkins’ sweet tunes.
If you’d like to share with me and us the particular song you chose, leave a comment by clicking the link below.
Two of my favorites on the album:

Night Singing (see video below, too)
Blanket for a Sail (originally by Harry Nilsson)
Til next time,

P.S. I’ve been wanting to invite womxn* here who feel called to join in on a gathering I’m hosting. It’s focused on transitions and change.
It’s a hybrid (virtual and in-person) gathering for womxn who are in the midst of change and it’s called Moving from the Marrow: A Creative Quest for Womxn in the Midst of Change.
You can get all the details here on the Eventbrite page. If you have any questions, reply to this emailed post.
*open to all who identify as women.
