In this note:
a shift of opportunity with nature.
Yesterday I found myself sitting in a spot in a nearby forest. I usually just walk through this spot but wanted to sit as the log was dry and Ernest was exploring nearby.
The acts of sitting and swinging my legs on this huge log, well, it was revolutionary in a way.
It brought the forest to me in a completely different way. It brought me to the forest in a completely different way. And all I did was sit down for a bit. It couldn’t have been longer than 10 minutes.
I wonder if you and the children about whom you care might want to try this out.
Try sitting in the nature spot you usually walk through.
Try dancing in the nature spot you usually sit in.
Try playing hide and seek in the nature spot you usually stroller through.
Try making art in the nature spot you usually walk past with the dog.
Try resting in the nature spot you usually run through.
Maybe give it about 10 minutes like I did?
If you want to share your plan, I’d enjoy reading in the comments or in an emailed reply to this post.
Til next week (likely on Thursday this time ;-) ),
Cassandra
